Polemika med evolucijo in kreacionizmom \u017ee skoraj dve stoletji mu\u010di javno \u0161olsko naravoslovno izobra\u017eevanje v Zdru\u017eenih dr\u017eavah Amerike. Glede na znanstvene dose\u017eke bi moralo biti to vpra\u0161anje treba vpra\u0161anje \u017ee dolgo re\u0161eno. Dejstvo, da ni, ka\u017ee na to, da je na kocki ve\u010d, kot le nasprotujo\u010di si znanstveni dose\u017eki. V tem predavanju bo avtor na kratko pregledal zgodovino, predstavil pogled, da je spor najbolje viden ne le v znanstvenem, ampak tudi v \u0161ir\u0161em kulturnem smislu, in da je vpra\u0161anje na podro\u010dju izobra\u017eevanja najbolje re\u0161iti s poudarkom na prepri\u010danju \u0161tudentov: kaj natan\u010dno naj u\u010ditelji naravoslovja pri\u010dakujejo od svojih u\u010dencev, da verjamejo? Ob tem bo avtor obravnaval tudi splo\u0161nej\u0161a vpra\u0161anja o ciljih izobra\u017eevanja.<\/p>\n
The Evolution\/Creationism-Intelligent Design controversy has bedeviled public school science education in the United States for nearly two centuries. On the scientific merits, the issue should have been resolved long ago. The fact that it hasn\u2019t suggests that more is at stake than the scientific merits of the opposing views. In this talk I briefly review the history, argue that the controversy is best seen not just in scientific but also in broadly cultural terms, and that the educational issue is best resolved by focusing on student\u00a0belief: what exactly should science teachers expect their students to believe? Along the way more general questions about the aims of education will be addressed.<\/p>\n
