{"id":3405,"date":"2018-01-15T11:34:23","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T11:34:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pei.si\/pedagoski-institut\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T12:26:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T12:26:22","slug":"educational-research-institute","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.pei.si\/en\/educational-research-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"Educational Research Institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Mission<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>The mission of the Educational Research Institute is to develop educational sciences and suitable scientific methodologies by encouraging interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary connection, as well as collaboration with other scientific institutions in Slovenia and abroad.Through the dissemination of scientific results, we also contribute to the development of educational practice.<\/h4>\n<p>The Educational Research Institute implements its mission and vision through scientific research, directed towards specific thematic areas that shall be researched in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary manner, through contributions provided by different education sciences: sociology of education and knowledge, comparative education, philosophy of education, pedagogical anthropology, developmental, pedagogical, and social psychology, pedagogy linguistics, feminist theories, epistemology, discourse studies, critical theory of society, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Thematic clusters of our research:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Development and research <strong>of the quality of preschool upbringing and education<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Monitoring and <strong>promotion of the efficiency and quality of the Slovenian educational system from an international perspective<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Development and promotion of the research areas of <strong>feminist theory and gender studies<\/strong> <strong>in education <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Critical analysis of the role and <strong>the position of knowledge and education<\/strong> <strong>in the society<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Systematic research and development of strategies <strong>for the social inclusion<\/strong> of children and young people into the educational system, especially when it comes to culturally and socially vulnerable groups<\/li>\n<li>Promotion of the empowering of young people in order to become <strong>active citizens<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Development <strong>of social, emotional and motivational factors of learning and teaching<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Development of the field of<strong> philosophy of education<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Development of the field of<strong> philosophy for children <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Research of <strong>plurilingualism<\/strong> in upbringing and education<\/li>\n<li>Research of <strong>rhetorics and argumentation<\/strong> in the practice of upbringing and education<\/li>\n<li>Evaluating, researching and monitoring the development of <strong>higher education<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Institute is performing its activities as a public service in the framework of the national research programme. In addition, it is also carrying out activities for other contracting entities in the scope and manner determined in the Development Programme and in the Annual Plan.Main activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>connecting with similar national and international institutions;<\/li>\n<li>complying with status, personnel and infrastructure conditions in order to be included into fixed international education development networks (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oecd.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the OECD<\/a>, IEA studies, <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/research\/index.cfm?lg=sl\">the European Union<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.coe.int\/DefaultEN.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the European Council<\/a>, etc.);<\/li>\n<li>providing training and post-graduate education of researchers;<\/li>\n<li>counselling and disseminating results of its research work;<\/li>\n<li>directing research into fields of strategic importance for Slovenia;<\/li>\n<li>organising and conducting seminars, professional meetings, and international conferences;<\/li>\n<li>collaboration of the associates of the Institute in undergraduate and postgraduate educational work;<\/li>\n<li>participating in international research activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Status<\/h3>\n<p>In 1965, the Educational Research Institute was created by the then-government of the Republic of Slovenia, while the University of Ljubljana took over the founding rights of the Institute in 1970.In 1995, the Educational Research Institute <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vlada.si\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">became a public research institution with a Decision adopted by the <\/a>Government of the Republic href=\"https:\/\/www.arrs.gov.si\/sl\/analize\/publ\/inc\/Evropski_kodeks_raziskovalne_postenosti.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity<\/a>.<br \/>\nIn its work, the Educational Research Institute is bound by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pei.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Guidelines_for_Working_with_Children_and_Adolescent.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guidelines for Working with Children and Adolescents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Financing<\/h3>\n<p>The research and development conducted by the Educational Research Institute are financed through a national research programme and tenders
