vljudno vabita na mednarodni (virtualni) simpozij

Kako misliti (in razumeti) toleranco, ki bo potekal v torek, 23. novembra 2021.

Kratek opis dogodka:

Anna Elisabetta Galeotti (Univerza Piemonte Orientale, Italija), prof. David Heyd (Univerza The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Izrael), prof. Friderik Klampfer (Univerza v Mariboru, Slovenija), prof. Roman Kuhar (Filozofska fakulteta, Univerza v Ljubljani), prof. Sune Laegaard (Univerza Roskilde, Danska), prof. Nenad Miščević (Univerza v Mariboru), prof. Roberta Sala (Univerza Vita-Salute San Raffaele, Italija) ter dr. Mitja Sardoč (Pedagoški inštitut).

Mednarodni spletni simpozij Kako misliti (in razumeti) toleranco organizirata Pedagoški inštitut ter Filozofska fakulteta (Univerza v Mariboru). Simpozij je brezplačen in odprt za javnost.

Symposium organizers Faculty of Arts (University of Maribor, Slovenia) and Educational Research Institute, Ljubljana (Slovenia)

invite you to the international (online) symposium

Making sense of toleration, which will be held on  Tuesday, November 23 2021.

Symposium presentation:

Both historically and conceptually, toleration has been one of the foundational characteristics that define the very essence of a plurally diverse polity and the basic virtue associated with a liberal conception of citizenship. Despite its central role in contemporary political thought, toleration remains to this day subject to various controversies and disagreements stemming from the many paradoxes, dilemmas and puzzles associated with it. Its ambivalent character and its troubling nature together with its enigmatic origins and complex legacy are just some of the character traits toleration has usually been associated with.

This international (online) symposium brings together a number of contributors to The Palgrave Handbook of Toleration that discuss some of the perennial questions toleration has been associated with. It aims to identify the distinguishing features of contemporary discussions over toleration as well as to elucidate the most pressing and challenging controversies these discussions have been faced with.

The Making Sense of Toleration online symposium will be carried out as a Teams Webinar. This symposium is free and open to the public.
